Directions to Hampshire College: Hampshire College is located at 893 West Street, Amherst, MA.
From Interstate 91: Take 91 to Route 9 (exit 19 from 91 South, exit 20 from 91 North).Go east on Route 9 until you reach Route 116 in Amherst Center. Follow 116 South and watch for Hampshire College Main entrance signs on the right after about 3 miles.
From the East: Take Interstate 90 to exit for Route 33 (exit 5), follow Route 33 north towards Holyoke, cross over 202 and get onto Route 116 North, Follow for about 11 miles, Hampshire College main entrance will be on your left.
From Route 2 West: Get on Route 91 South and take exit 20. Go east on Route 9 until you reach Route 116 in Amherst Center. Follow 116 south and watch for Hampshire College Main entrance signs (about 3 miles) on right.
From all other points: Once you find Route 116 in Amherst (West Street), go south and watch for signs for Hampshire College Main Entrance. Your way will be well marked for parking and registration from there.
Public Transportation: Valley Transporters runs shuttles from Bradley, Logan, NY and Providence Airports, call (413) 253-1350 for information. PVTA bus service runs to Amherst Center, but does not run to Hampshire College. Call (413) 586-5806 for schedule information. If you wish to carpool, call Deb Pouech at (860) 684-0551, or email nofa@herbsnhoney.com, for names and phone numbers of people coming from your area at least ten days before the conference. Requests made after that may not be able to be answered due to time constraints.
We will be offering a NOFA shuttle service. It will run only between the hours of 10 am and 5 pm on Friday and 2:30 and 4 pm on Sunday. Contact us at least five days in advance of the conference to arrange a complimentary ride. When you arrive in Amherst call us at the college at (413) 549-4600 and we'll send someone to pick you up. The shuttle back to Amherst will run from the registration tent on Sunday pm. Call Deb Pouech at (860) 684-0551.
Helping Hands: WE NEED YOU! Give yourself a weekend pay raise; work four hours and get $25 (or $30 for working the Children's Conference). It's fun, you'll meet some great people and you'll make a critical difference in making the conference run smoothly. As we grow, you are needed more than ever and you can seriously defray the cost of the conference by helping out. Handicapped Accessibility: Most buildings at Hampshire College are generally handicapped accessible. Please contact us well in advance if you have any special needs.
Dormitories: If you reserved a dormitory room or plan to reserve one upon arrival, please remember to bring your own bedding and towels. All rooms, even doubles, have twin size beds. A small fan is advisable to beat those dog days (and nights) of August. Refrigeration is not available in the dormitories so bring a small cooler if you want to keep personal beverages or food from perishing. Ice can purchased at local neighborhood stores on Route 116.
Pets: Leave your pets at home: Hampshire College Security personnel and NOFA staff will ask you to remove your pet from the campus if you bring it.
Parking: Park only in designated areas. A Hampshire College Security person will be present to help you park when you arrive. Campus parking lots are indicated on the map in the center of this program book. If you are camping, please do not drive or park on the athletic fields. RVs should park in the Library parking lot (see map) preferably. There are no hook-ups for RVs available. Parking in an undesignated area could result in your vehicle being towed. Please check in at registration before proceeding to workshops, dormitories and camping areas to receive your registration materials, nametag, dormitory key, and/or camping permit.
If you arrive after registration is closed, you can pick up your reserved key at Campus Security at the rear of the Johnson Library Center. Then check in at registration the next morning. Rooms are available on first-come, first served basis for walk-in registrants.
Pre-conference headquarters for Thursday will be located in the Franklin Patterson Hall Lobby.
NOFA conference headquarters will be located in the registration tent on the Central Green. If you need help or information, or at anytime want to contact the Conference staff, go there. Registration hours are listed in the conference schedule. After hours, call Security at ext. 5424. They are located at the rear of Johnson Library Center.
