After many years at Hampshire College, next year's event will be held down the road at the University of Massachusetts. We look forward to seeing you for what promises to be another illuminating, inspiring, fun weekend.

Call For Workshop Presenters

Are you interested in presenting a workshop at the 2008 NOFA Summer Conference? Each year, the NOFA Summer Conference provides a valuable opportunity for farmers, gardeners, homesteaders, educators, and environmentalists to share resources and ideas in order to grow a vibrant organic community.

We are looking for knowledgeable and enthusiastic presenters to offer workshops in a wide variety of categories, from beginner level to advanced. The categories include: Alternative Energy and the Environment; Animals; Crops; Farming and the Community; Farm Economics and Management; Cooking and Food Preparation; Farming and Education; Politics and Policy; Fruits, Nuts, and Trees; Garden and Greenhouse; Herbs and Flowers; International Agriculture; Land Care; Marketing; Nutrition and Healthcare; Of the Spirit; Practical Skills; Soil and Fertility; Weeds, Insects and Disease; and Farm Tours. If you enjoy working with youth, please consider offering a workshop for teens or children.

The 2008 NOFA Summer Conference will be held at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA from August 8-10. Workshop presenters receive free conference registration and a $50 honorarium, plus up to $35 reimbursable for copying or materials expenses, and $.50/mile for hauling costs for large animals.

Bill McKibben - Keynote Speaker Friday, August 10th 7:00 PM
Bill McKibben is the author of ten books on the environment and other topics. His first book, the End of Nature, was also the first book for a general audience on global warming; it's now available in 20 foreign languages. A former staff writer for the New Yorker, his work appears in Harpers, the Atlantic, the New York Review of Books, and a variety of other national publications. A scholar in residence at Middlebury College, he is the recipient of Guggenheim and Lyndhurst fellowships and the Lannan Prize in Nonfiction Writing. His most recent book is Deep Economy: The Wealth of Communities and the Durable Future.

Hazel Henderson - Saturday, August 11th 7:00 PM
Author of Beyond Globalization and global activist on issues of sustainable development and green economics. She will deliver keynote via 2-way satellite technology.

Hazel Henderson, founder, Ethical Markets Media, LLC and Series Creator and Co-Executive Producer of its TV series - Dr. Hazel Henderson is a world renowned futurist, evolutionary economist, a worldwide syndicated columnist, consultant on sustainable development, and author of Beyond Globalization, and seven other books. Her editorials appear in 27 languages and more than 400 newspapers syndicated by InterPress Service, Rome, New York, and Washington DC. Her articles have appeared in over 250 journals, including (in USA) Harvard Business Review, New York Times, Christian Science Monitor, and Challenge, Mainichi (Japan), El Diario (Venezuela), World Economic Herald (China), LeMonde Diplomatique (France) and Australian Financial Review. Her books are translated into German, Spanish, Japanese, Dutch, Swedish, Korean, Portuguese, and Chinese.
