You are invited to submit a workshop proposal for the NOFA/Mass Annual Winter Conference. This annual, day-long event provides organic farmers, gardeners, landscapers and homesteaders with practical information and skills. The workshops are 90 minutes long.
We are particularly interested in receiving workshop proposals for the following subjects:-
- Information for the beginning organic gardener on pest control, disease control, soil improvements. These topics could be covered in three separate workshops
- Gardening in small spaces such as containers, patios, balconies or small urban gardens
- Organic orchards and other fruits
- Fertility/crop health/successions/rotations
- Growing specific crops organically eg great carrots, potatoes, etc
- Specific livestock workshops
- Farm management such as marketing/financial planning/financial planning/budgeting/bottom lines
- Irrigation, farm machinery
- Homesteading skills such as food preparation, preserving, soap making
This year we will also be offering two intensive day long workshops. The intent of these sessions is to give more in depth information than can be covered in a standard 90 minute workshop. They will follow the schedule of the regular workshop program but participants will register for all three workshops i.e. the intensives will consist of three 90 minute workshops with the second building on the information given in the first and the last building on the information given in the two preceding workshops. This year one intensive session will be on four season growing and will be presented by our keynote speaker, Eliot Coleman.
