NOFA/Mass Beginning Farmer Program

The NOFA/Mass Beginning Farmer Program aims to cultivate the next committed generation of organic farmers in Massachusetts. Through three distinct parts of the program, we hope to offer young farmers and those who are coming to farming after other careers diverse opportunities to engage in educational opportunities that are appropriate for where they are in their professional development.

Apprenticeships
Coming soon: A statewide directory for farmers seeking apprentices and for those looking to apprentice.

Mentorships
Coming soon: Resources for aspiring farmers who are ready to develop a deeper educational relationship with an experienced farmer and resources for seasoned farmers who want to help educate new farmers.

Journeyperson Farmer Training Program
The NOFA/Mass Journeyperson Farmer Training Program offers people who are serious about pursuing careers as organic farmers in Massachusetts the opportunity to have intensive, hands-on mentored training. The program is a two-year commitment of support from NOFA/Mass to aspiring farmers who are ready to farm on their own.
