Bulk Order Program Overview and Information
Greetings, NOFA growers in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
Here it is - your 2008 Bulk Order Form! It offers NOFA members many organically certifiable farm, garden, and lawn care products at "bulk" prices, while also supporting NOFA. The favorable prices you'll find here are due to the generosity of our suppliers, the hard work of the Site Coordinators, all of you who help to receive and distribute the goods, and to our minimal overhead.
You must be a NOFA member to participate in the Bulk Order. You can join or renew on the order form.
Descriptions and More Products. This mailing includes brief descriptions of just some of the available products. Visit our supplier's websites or peruse the Fedco OGS and MT catalogs for more info. If you are interested in products of theirs not on our form, I can probably get it for you at a discounted NOFA price. I encourage you to shop for what you need. Contact me by Jan. 7 about this, for price, availability and ordering instructions, before you complete your form.
Fill out your order form, designating your pick up site, and with your payment, mail by Jan 19, or deliver by hand at the MA Winter Conference, Jan 19. Orders mailed after this date and by Jan 26 will be accepted with a $20 late fee.
Website. To order, please print Order Form, fill out and mail in with your check.
Taxes. Massachusetts members must pay a 5% sales tax on all of the items on page 1 of the Order Form. However, you can claim exempt status if your business is not-for-profit (include a copy of your ST-5 or ST-2 forms) or if you are a commercial farm (include a copy of Form ST-12, downloadable from www.mass.gov/dor). Sales tax will be charged unless exempt status documentation accompanies the Order Form.
Volume Discount. If your order totals over $500, (before taxes and membership), you may deduct 2%, over $1000 deduct 3%. If you qualify for the discount and must pay Mass. Sales Tax, (page one items only), figure the tax on your discounted page one total.
Order Confirmation. I will contact you within 1 week of receiving your order. If you do not hear from me, contact me.
PLEASE HELP! As always, the Site Coordinators can use help unloading the truck, organizing, and breaking down orders. This is another reason why we save money - everyone chips in a little work. The trucks usually deliver the Tuesdays before pickup dates (March 11 and April 8). If you can help, circle YES on the order form, and the Site Coordinator may contact you for help on the Tuesday, Saturday, or anytime in between.
Two site changes this year. Our RI site has moved down the road to South Kingstown and western MA members have a much more convenient pickup at a new site in Dalton. Again remember, only orders over $1,000 may use Lincoln.
Pickup date is March 15 for most everything, and April 12 for seed potatoes/onions/shallots. We'll mail you a reminder including directions to the site you circled about a week before pickup. Please bring a copy of your order and check all items before leaving. Any problems should be reported to your Site Coordinator. You must pick up your order on the pickup date unless prior arrangements have been made with your Site Coordinator.
Certified organic growers who buy products through this order are still responsible for their own documentation. In the case of some cover crop seed, onion sets, and shallots, you must demonstrate organic sources were unavailable. Except for the cover crop seed listed as "Conventionally Grown", the onion sets, and the shallots, the products offered on this form meet the Baystate Organic Certifiers' standards for organic. Growers using NCO's Cheep Cheep 4-3-3 should treat this product as manure. You may contact suppliers directly for more product info. See Notes on last page.
