Mike with Beard

Mike Rice, NOFA/Mass Marketing Associate and Membership Coordinator

We’ve added a new superstar to our team here at NOFA/Mass- say Hi to Mike!

Michael Rice is passionate about local, sustainable food systems and is joining us as our new Marketing Associate and Membership Coordinator.

Mike’s work in food and farming has included serving as beverage director for the James Beard Award winning restaurant Fish & Game in New York’s Hudson Valley, running the bar program at the Michelin-starred restaurant Contra on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, working as an apprentice in natural wine and cider making at Fable Farm Fermentory in Barnard, Vermont, and managing operations for Consider Bardwell Farm in West Pawlet, Vermont. He is currently a master’s student in Food and Agriculture Law and Policy at Vermont Law School.

In his role as the Marketing Associate, he will serve as our liaison between businesses who offer products or services to farmers and gardeners, and the people who need them.  Connecting eco-conscious companies with eco-conscious (potential) customers is a responsibility that can be rewarding for all involved, and that’s a challenge that our Marketing Department looks forward to.

As the Membership Coordinator, Mike will be the point of contact for new and renewing members of NOFA/Mass.  You may hear from him with a heartfelt welcome if you join for the first time, with a helpful reminder of your pending membership expiration date, or simply with a sincere thank you for being a part of our community.

Holding both of these roles will mean that Mike is the man at the door for many of you, greeting you and making you feel comfortable as one of many individuals in the grassroots food movement.

Before he gets the chance to be that guy, please join me in welcoming Mike to our crew by sending him a quick hello, sharing your favorite vegetable with him, or pick his brain about wine and policy.  Email Mike at [email protected].
