By Jason Valcourt, NOFA Summer Conference Coordinator

I hope you are reading this in your cozy, physically distanced home where you are able to make the most of the unexpected quiet time and even possibly make progress on your seedlings and farm planning for this season. If there is a silver lining to this moment, may one of them be our ability to put extra focus on the plants this spring, undistracted by other busy-ness.

If you are in need of some inspiration or information for starting those seeds, check out our first impromptu webinar from our free “Resiliency Skills Online Gatherings” series entitled “Seed Starting Systems at Home”.

We have our fingers crossed that our collective physical distancing is effective enough to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus worldwide as soon as possible. Of course, with events being cancelled every week, we are proceeding cautiously with plans for the 2020 NOFA Summer Conference.

Earlier this week we launched a survey to find out how many of you would be interested in a completely virtual event, and if so, how you would like to see it structured.  If you haven’t yet, please take a moment to share your opinion with us here.

For the moment, we are beginning plans to live-stream at least some of the conference workshops. Whether that will be a select few or the entire conference worth is yet to be determined.  We will make a decision on the format of the conference as soon as we are able and will keep you all posted.

Stay well,

Jason
