[FLORENCE, MA] — The Northeast Organic Farming Association/Massachusetts Chapter (NOFA/Mass) invites farmers, gardeners, and food system advocates to its 38th Annual Winter Conference on February 1st, 2025, at UMass Amherst. This year’s theme—Rooted in Abundance—celebrates community resilience, organic practices, and the power of networking within food and farming systems.
The day begins with a Morning Plenary on soil health, highlighting its role in strengthening local farms, boosting food production, and addressing climate change challenges. Participants will leave with practical ideas and resources to implement in their communities and work.
Throughout the day, attendees can explore a variety of workshops designed to inspire and educate growers and food system enthusiasts of all backgrounds. Topics include innovative farming practices, small farm financial success, edible and medicinal mushroom production, pollinator support, and protecting livestock from predators.Â
Additional highlights include a Community Seed Swap, where people can trade seeds and share gardening tips; Racial Equity Caucus Groups, offering a space to reflect and talk about equity in our food systems; and a Children’s Conference with fun, hands-on activities about tea and apple growing.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with organizations and community partners at the Vendor & Exhibitor Fair, which will showcase resources, tools, and collaborative opportunities for sustainable food systems.
To support the conference, NOFA/Mass hosts a Virtual Auction where participants can bid on unique items and experiences, from compost to handmade goods. All proceeds will support Winter Conference programming, making it a win-win for attendees and the community.
With sliding-scale ticket pricing from $50-$250, scholarships, and workshops offered in Spanish, this event is accessible to anyone who wishes to attend. Mark your calendar for February 1st, 2025, and join a lively community working together to grow healthy landscapes that nourish people and help heal the environment.
