Join the youth leaders and local families to explore gardening techniques that improve the health of urban soils, increase production of culturally appropriate crops and discuss some basic food preservation techniques. This half-day workshop is geared toward urban backyard growers, community gardeners and anyone working to grow healthy food in urban areas.
Take some time to chat with fellow farmers and farm advisors about tillage reduction and soil health in an open, roundtable environment. The Monthly Min-Till Farmer Call will be the first Monday of each month. No pre-registration required, this will be a free-form space with minimal moderation & with the goal of farmers being able to pose questions to each other and share resources, suggestions, and ideas about tillage reduction.
Farmers and others are invited to a free workshop entitled Attract Native Pollinators to your Farm at Just Roots farm in Greenfield, on Thursday, Sept 22, 4:30-6:30 pm. Attendees will hear from farmers and others about how and what to plant, tips on maintenance, sources of funding and technical assistance before pizza and a tour of the farm.
