What it is:

  • A soil chemical test is an essential component of well-managed soils. A chemical test can quantify the nutrient and mineral content of your soil, and give you the information you need to confidently amend your soil while preventing over application of fertilizers, which can be costly and environmentally-damaging. NOFA/Mass Soil Technical Assistance Program Staff help by interpreting your soil test and giving you recommendations as to what amendments are best to apply, and when. We will work with you in developing a plan that meets your production goals, utilizing any amendments you’ve already purchased and providing recommendations for additional amendments.

* We accept soil test reports from:

  • Logan Labs
    Why Logan Labs?

Each soil testing facility uses different tests and methods to calibrate their equipment, and although there are many excellent testing labs available, we have chosen to focus on one lab as we develop the program to ensure the consistency of our results.
  • UMass Amherst
We prefer Logan Labs test reports, but we can also accept ones from UMass Amherst.

Steps you’ll take:

  1. Fill out the Soil Services Request Form and submit
