What it is:

Have a unique soil or growing challenge?

Need expert support for something outside the standard offerings?

NOFA/Mass is a farmer-led organization with deep, hands-on knowledge of organic, regenerative, and biologically based practices. Through our Soil Technical Assistance Program, we offer custom support tailored to your needs—whether you’re a farmer, land steward, landscaper, or educator.

If your request is within our capacity, we’ll work with you to design a custom work plan and budget. If it’s not something we can directly support, we’ll do our best to connect you with someone who can.

Examples of Custom Technical Support Requests:

  • Designing on-farm biofertilizer or compost tea production systems
  • Assessing soil health for pasture conversion or agroforestry planning
  • Developing a remediation strategy for compacted, contaminated, or degraded soils
  • Training your team in soil biology monitoring (e.g. microscopy or microbiometer use)
  • Creating a custom amendment or biological application plan
  • Supporting grant-funded or pilot research projects
  • Integrating microbial inputs into conventional or transition-based systems
  • Reviving a tired pasture for grazing or haying

Steps you’ll take:

  1. Fill out the Soil Services Request Form and submit
Briefly describe your technical support need
  2. Initial consultation
A NOFA/Mass Soil Technical Assistance Provider will contact you to assess whether your request is a fit for our team
  3. Needs assessment
If we can support your request, we’ll work with you to clarify your goals and develop a scope of work
  4. Custom plan and budget
You’ll receive a proposal that outlines the deliverables, timeline, and estimated

We’ll assist with implementation, provide follow-up guidance, or help coordinate relevant resources as needed

Let’s Collaborate.

Whether you’re building something new, solving a problem, or growing your team’s skills, we’re here to support your soil health journey.
